SuperUNnatural
New Work by John Casey
Opening Saturday, March 7, 6 – 9 pm
Bane Gallery in San Francisco presents “SuperUNnatural” new work by me. I continue my exploration of oddball characters which includes anthropomorphized animals and animal-human hybrids. This exhibition will feature sculpture, painting, drawing and wood cutouts. There will also be affordable smaller works along with zines and other fun stuff. Bane Gallery is located at 65 Capp Street, a unique exhibition space with a storied history. I’m excited to be showing this collection of work at this cool location.
65 Capp Street in San Francisco was the original site of the Capp Street Project, an influential artist-in-residence program founded in 1983 by Ann Hatch. The house was formerly transformed by conceptual artist David Ireland into a minimalist, site-specific work. It served as a premier venue for experimental installations until relocating in the late 1990s. This space now houses the Bane Gallery.
