From curator Heiko Muller: 20 years ago, I created Don’t Wake Daddy as my contribution to an art group of which I was the only non-American member – the Art Dorks. Each December, Feinkunst Krüger (@feinkunstkrueger) and I presented mainly American and international artworks that could be categorized as Lowbrow or Pop Surrealism in this group show. As far as I know, no other annual Lowbrow exhibition series has lasted this long. And now, after 20 years, Don’t Wake Daddy returns to the place where its spark of origin was ignited: the USA. On September 13, Don’t Wake Daddy PDX opens at Brassworks Gallery (@brassworksgallery) in Portland, OR.
